General Description

LinguiSteps is an online language skills improvement course. It is a tutor-guided self-study course which improves the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, and the underlying grammar of the English Language.

Once a week students receive a study program which they have to complete within 7 days. At the end of the 7 days they have to report if they have finished their workload, or not, and submit some of their written and recorded productions. A tutor will provide them with feedback on whether their submitted work was satisfactory. If there are any deficiencies in the submitted work they will be informed by email, including examples of the expected standard, or given an option for an online consultation with a personal tutor.

If a student has not done the IELTS or TOEFL iBT test recently, he/she will be assessed over the first 8 weeks with 2 listening, 2 reading, 1 writing and 2 speaking tests. They will be provided with an assessment of their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills and a projection of the scores they would achieve if they registered for the earliest available test. This assessment, and a calculation of the average hours of work per week which the student was able to comfortably finish and maintain over these first 8 weeks, will allow the assessor to predict when the student will be able to achieve their required score.
